About Us

The Charles Town Historic Landmarks Commission is a body appointed by City Council. The members of the commission are volunteers that research historic buildings, write articles on preservation issues, give advice on development plans for historic buildings, approve sign applications in the downtown overlay district and designate Charles Town Historic Landmarks.

The HLC meets the second Monday of every month at 7:30pm at City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with HLC projects, research and writing. Please join us at one of our meetings or contact HLC Chair, Charity Beth Long if you would like to volunteer.
